First: Use as much water as you want to eat.
Second: Add one-half that amount of oatmeal (rolled oats) -- Use an water to oatmeal ratio or proportion of 2 to 1. Or, put another way: 2 parts water for 1 part oatmeal.
The oatmeal to water ratio of 2 to 1 works for rolled oats. For steel cut oats, the proportion is 4 to 1 -- 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup of steel cut oats.
